It's easy to commission a dog portrait. The first step is to set up an intitial meeting. I only need 20 to 30 minutes with the dog to take some photo reference, and to learn the personality of the dog. Then, I'll go back to the studio and paint from that reference. If that's not possible (if the dog has passed away or is unavailable for photographs), then we'll meet and look over photographs that you have.

If you're outside the Portland area, feel free to email the photos to see if they're usable. I look for 3 things in a good reference photo: Good lighting, personality, and plenty of detail. If you're taking your own photos, email me and I'll give you some pointers.

The rest of the process typically takes from 10 days to 3 weeks, including drying time. The dog portraits are painted on high quality canvas with 2" stretcher bars. The edges are painted, and they don't need frames. They are ready to hang. If you are out of the Portland area, a $100 deposit is required to begin. If you're in the Portland area, no deposit is required.

The procedure for people portraits is a bit more involved. If you are interested in having a portrait done, please contact me to discuss procedures.
